On the 21st of December 2023, Sassa has assured the Sassa Gold Card holders that their social grant cards which are supposed to expire on the 31st of December 2023 will work beyond 31 December. This means that the beneficiaries will be able to get their payments from their Sassa Gold Card in 2024.

The agency said “You are aware that your SASSA gold card is expiring, right? Do not panic. The current SASSA gold card is valid beyond 31 December 2023.”

Their message continues “Social grant recipients can continue using their expired gold cards beyond 31 December 2023 to withdraw cash at ATMs and retailers (e.g. Checkers, Shoprite, USave, OK, Pick n Pay, Boxer and other participating retailers)”
